Up for sale are FOUR of the earliest and most interesting ORIGINAL STAR WARS ADVANCES in MINT CONDITION! I've posted detailed information and research about these IMPORTANT ORIGINALS. George Lucas' company started marketing Star Wars in 1976. In the 2007 book, "The Making Of Star Wars, " great detail is given about The Star Wars Corporation's early marketing of the film.

It mentions that at the comic book conventions in 1976, when the Howard Chaykin poster [Star Wars Poster 1] was released, the Star Wars Corporation, a. LUCASFILM, handed out a two-sided flyer advertising the upcoming movie (see photos #1, 2, & 3). Made LONG BEFORE the completion of the film, the flyer speaks of many elements that were eventually changed. Great early Star Wars stuff is printed on this unique handout. It's more than AMAZING to read and a must have for any serious Star Wars collection. Very few originals have survived. It's unquestionably a real treasure and an exceptionally early item. In fact, it's the earliest item that was distributed to the public on Star Wars. This example is NOT a copy! This is one of the actual originals that were made for the table Howard Chaykin used to sell and sign his now famous Star Wars advance posters at.

Sought after original Star Wars movie posters (see photo #1 and 5). Fox distributed all 3 of these. The original 20th Century-Fox press-book for Star Wars instructs theater managers to wild post in and around campuses; on bulletin boards, in meeting halls, cafeterias, bookstores, music shops, everywhere students congregate.

These SUPER RARE ADVANCE SET of mini window posters were used for that exact purpose, as well as being displayed at the movie theater ticket counters. When Fox began to market Star Wars in early 1977 they could not decide on how to market the film. Mark Hamill did a QVC television program on Oct.

28, 1992 and was quoted to say, When [Star Wars] opened we didn't have any posters--we just had photographs outside the building. " He elaborates by saying that, "Fox wasn't sure what campaign to go with--an adventure, a 2001 odyssey, etc. The 3 mini window posters offered here demonstrate nicely the early Star Wars campaign in progress. The wordy Teaser pictured in the middle speaks of "Imagination" but does not deliver.

This "Odyssey" style poster was dropped from the campaign early on before the film's release. It was ONLY made in this mini window and jumbo (84x91 inch) 7-sheet size. The final version of a teaser made for the Star Wars campaign, taken from the film's lead-in, was only ready shortly before the May 25th release date in 1977. Have been used by the motion picture industry since the silent film days. Not all films released had mini window posters.

Mostly big films such as The Wizard of Oz, King Kong, Casablanca, all the way to 2001: A Space Odyssey used mini window posters. They are among the rarest of all posters made, MUCH RARER than the one sheets! Most were hung and used, few survived. No Star Wars poster collection is complete without these! All 3 of these posters are in MINT condition! The first one with the May 25 release date measures 7 1/2" x 6 3/4". The "Odyssey" version with the PG logo measures 9 1/2" x 7 1/2, " and the Final version with the Dolby logo measures 8x10 inches and the STAR WARS CORPORATION 1976 FLYER measures 8 1/2" x 11".
