AN ADVERTISING ONLY Star Wars Store Display Movie Poster promoting the sale of the now legendary Don Post Studios Star Wars masks made back in 1977! This is one of the earliest and most important posters on Star Wars, not to mention one of the rarest!

It was very hard to get licensees on board with Star Wars prior to the film's release. Don Post Studios Masks were one of the happy exceptions.

They were with the franchise from the beginning, and so was this poster - printed early on to advertise the launch of the masks. Needless to say, Star Wars broke in 1977 to be a breakout hit, and the rest is history, including this poster, which was never printed again. They didn't need to, as hunger for Star Wars product was self feeding. They couldn't keep the masks on the shelf long enough for the paint to dry. Subsequently, Post made a small fortune on his wise decision to sign on early.

In all of the 40 years I've been collecting, I've only seen six (6) of these posters. That's rare by anyone's measure. Any way you cut it, this one is a MUST if you're into rare and important Star Wars! This poster was printed back in 1977 when Star Wars was first released!

Again, this poster is simply as rare as any Star Wars poster gets. Heck, it's pretty much as rare as. There are one hundred year old Toulouse-Lautrec posters that are not as rare as this poster. There really are just a few people who have this early Star Wars poster. This poster was issued 25 by 18 and 1/4 inches. The poster was also designed and printed WITHOUT a white border. They call that a full "Bleed" in the advertising industry.

It worked like a charm because the poster came out perfectly! I used the best conservator in the USA. He ONLY uses high-grade materials, such as thicker linen and thicker acid-free Japanese rice paper.

The better materials cost more but make a real difference in the end result. It's flat as a pancake and as clean as can be. Is an accepted form of poster preservation by the Library of Congress and every Museum in the country.

A lot of advanced poster buyers request and prefer linen-mounted posters because it makes framing and displaying the posters much easier. As I pointed out, this poster was made with a RED border only. The white you see in the photos is the white of the Japanese paper lining the linen border margin. You can see how easy it would be to damage the original poster without that extra margin of protection. The backing makes the poster much safer to handle - it GREATLY reduces the risk of damaging the original.
