Here's a BONA FIDE. ORIGINAL 1980 NSS (National Screen Service) issued The Empire Strikes Back style "A" 14x36 inch Movie Poster Insert Card [Theater Lobby Display]: This is one of the nicest and scarcest original posters on Star Wars.
Originally referred to as the "Gone With the Wind, " this artwork became known as the style "A" only by default. Billy Dee Williams questioned why he wasn't pictured on it (along with all of the other billed actors) at the film's premiere.
20th Century-Fox and Lucasfilm didn't have a good answer to Williams' surprise inquiry, leaving both studios standing there with a mess of egg splattered all over their faces. They scrambled quickly to issue the style "B" artwork with a small but clear image of Lando Calrissian, Billy D's now famous movie character. This glorious style "A" artwork was then immediately suspended - both companies dropping it from their primary campaigns to avoid any chance of undo publicity - rendering the "Gone With the Wind, " gone with the wind. This is one of the few GENUINE ORIGINAL posters to be issued to the theaters before this art was pulled. Is a poster term for a standard sized movie theater lobby display, which measures 14x36 inches.
The format originally dates back to the 1920's. The National Screen Service permanently discontinued manufacturing them in the late 1980's, shortly before they went out of business. Unfortunately, in the 1980's, a group of criminal pirates bootlegged all of the Star Wars inserts, along with some of the other iconic 1970's and'80's titles such as "Jaws" and the Godfather. They distributed TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THEM!
So, needless to say, BEWARE! I'm not going to go into all one-hundred and one different ways one can to tell an original poster from the fakes (I'll save that for my encyclopedia on posters), but I'll point out the three big issues of pressing concern to most educated collectors. Is the all important razor sharp GAU (Graphic Arts International) union stamp. The logo must have even and thick Clear and Sharp lines that present clarity within the logo, because if it doesn't - it's a copy! The fakes were all printed on heavily bleached card stock that presents a much "whiter" appearance than the originals. Again, needless to say, the one offered here doesn't have these flaws. I admit my prices are somewhat advanced, but the service and guarantee I provide is equally advanced. It more than makes up for what appears not to be a bargain price. I say "appears" because it's my sincere belief that it's a bargain to be certain in what you're getting. Certainty is what all the fuss is about when it comes to certifications on autographs, baseball cards, and, comic books. It's what all three of those collectible industries solely rely on. There is NO other dealer in the country that can say the same! I'm a well-known expert. I fully designed and authored a Star Wars poster-collecting guide back in 1999 - It was published by Butterfields. I'm credited in the front of the guide.I offer that guide with some of my listings see a photo of it in my listing with the. STAR WARS'77 MINI-WINDOW TEASER MOVIE POSTERS.
I point this out because I want you to know that I can definitely authenticate Star Wars posters with 100% accuracy. THIS POSTER IS THE REAL DEAL. I'VE POSTED DIRECT HIGH-RES SCANS OF THE ACTUAL POSTER YOU'LL GET! Acid-Free Museum Paper-Mounted for Preservation & Presentation! THIS IS 100% GUARANTEED ORIGINAL RARE 1980 PRINTING. I ONLY sell genuine rare originals. Please check my feedback comments and other listings. This poster was in SOLID NearMINT Condition before I had it museum-mounted.The only defect was a crease thru the middle of the poster from flat storage - that's it. I had it Museum Conservation Paper-Mounted to deacidify the poster and the get the crease out. It worked like a charm because the poster came out perfect and remains that way! It's now flat as a pancake - even flatter!
I used the best conservator in the USA. He ONLY uses high-grade materials. The better materials cost more but make a real difference in the end result. I've posted direct high-resolution scans of the actual poster you'll be getting, so you can see just how terrific this rare display truly is! LINEN-MOUNTING & CONSERVATION PAPER BACKING.Is an accepted form of poster preservation by the Library of Congress and every Museum in the country. A lot of advanced poster buyers request and prefer mounted posters because it makes framing and displaying the posters much easier. The white you see in the photo beyond that of the poster is the white of the Acid-Free paper lining the original poster's margin.
You can see how easy it would be to damage the original poster without that extra margin of protection. The backing makes the poster much safer to handle - it GREATLY reduces the risk of damaging the original. Also, all of my backed posters have been stored FLAT so they DO NOT have a curl to them - They're ready for framing and display! If you are looking for an investment/museum quality poster, look no further. THIS POSTER WILL BE PROFESSIONALLY PACKAGED. It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock - Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won't inspire anyone! The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society.
This poster is definitely ECONOMY PROOF! Please write with any questions, and if you are in the market for top quality original vintage movie posters or Star Wars check out our other listings!
